"Jim" Larson, 71, of Milan, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at his home.
Services
will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Milan.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly
Funeral Home, Milan, where a Masonic service will be conducted at
7:30 p.m. by the Eureka Masonic Lodge No. 69, Milan. Burial will be
in the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to
the First Presbyterian Church.
James was
born April 9, 1935, in Davenport, the son of Arthur and Elfrida
Nygaard Larson. He married Carol Olson on Jan. 8, 1956, in Moline.
After his
service in the United States Army, Jim worked many years as an
operating engineer for Frandsen Excavating Co., Davenport. He then
worked for 20 years as the Milan Street Superintendent, retiring in
1993. After retiring from the Village of Milan, Jim returned to
working construction and then enjoyed working at the Quad City Auto
Auction in Milan.
James was a
member of First Presbyterian Church, Milan, Eureka Masonic Lodge No.
69, Milan and the Midwest Operating Engineers Union Local 150.
Jim enjoyed
spending time with his family, traveling and watching sporting
events.
Survivors
include his wife, Carol; children and their spouses, Lori Bleuer,
Milan, David and Suzette Larson, The Hague, Netherlands, Christine
and Eric Myers, Davenport, Steven and Stephanie Larson, St. Louis,
Mo.; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Virjeanne Brown, Gays Mills, Wis., and Sandy Benisch, Madison, Wis.
Mr. Larson
was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marian Stein; and a
brother, Donald "Bud" Larson.
