Robert Rowland

Clyde Robert "Bob" Rowland Jr., 68, of Milan, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral home, Milan. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military honors accorded by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service conducted by Moline Lodge 1014 at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Moline Masonic Lodge 1014 Academic Scholarship Fund or a favorite charity.

Bob was born Dec. 23, 1938, in Paragould, Ark., the son of Clyde Robert and Mary Elizabeth Wilson Rowland. He married Constance "Connie" Hughes on Oct. 13, 1973, in Rock Island.

Mr. Rowland was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served from 1956-1958 in Japan.

 

Bob was a sheet metal worker with Union Local 91. He had been employed at the former Modern Heating, East Moline, and later at Schebler Co., Bettendorf.

Mr. Rowland was a Past Master of Eureka Lodge 69, Milan, and Past Master of Moline Lodge 1014. He had been past District Deputy Grand Master of the 13 Northern, Certified lodge instructor, 32 Degree Mason Scottish Rite Valley of Moline and Coordinate Bodies. He also had received the Moline Cross Award from the 32 Degree Scottish Rite and Masonic Leadership Award from Moline Lodge 1014.

Bob enjoyed coaching his sons' Milan Little League teams. He also enjoyed remodeling homes after retirement with his good friend Larry Smith at B & L Construction.

Survivors include his wife, Connie; daughter, Robin Rowland, Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Seth and Desiree Rowland, Bettendorf; stepsons, Sean, Curtis and Derick Adams, all of Milan; grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Jade and Brady Adams, Ava and Cooper Rowland; sisters, Roberta Wheeler and Melvia Rowland; brother, James Rowland; and several extended family members and friends.
