Douglas D. Meaker

Services for Douglas Dale Meaker, 47, of 11622 27th St. W.,
Milan, are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hodgson Funeral Home Ltd., Rock
Island, with the Rev. Robert Schoolcraft officiating. The body
has been cremated. Private burial will be held at a later date
at National Cemetery, Rock Island.
Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with Masonic services at 7
p.m. by Eureka Masonic Lodge, Milan. An educational fund for his
children will be established.
Mr. Meaker died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Trinity Medical
Center, North Campus, Davenport.
He was born on Dec. 11, 1952, in Peoria, the son of Willard
Meaker and Jerry Poland Meaker. He married Terri Gimble on Nov.
4, 1980, in Edgington, Ill.

He graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Chicago.
Mr. Meaker was a window clerk at the Davenport Post Office. He
was also a licensed funeral director/embalmer.
He was a member of Mohassen Grotto, Davenport; Eureka Masonic
Lodge, Milan; Milan Chapter Eastern Star and American Postal
Workers Union. He was a former Cub Scout leader and was a dad
adviser for Demolay.
He coached baseball and enjoyed camping, gardening and
woodworking. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Terri; daughters, Jenny, Megan and
Mandy Meaker, all at home; sons, Josh Meaker, at home, and
Steven, of Kewanee; his parents, Wyoming, Ill.; sisters, C. Lynn
Furness, Peoria, and Kelly Hamilton, Petersburg, Ill.; and
brothers, Paul Meaker, Ostphen, Germany, and Kevin Meaker,
Wyoming.
