Carl A. Christensen, 85, of Milan, passed away Sunday July 18, 2010 at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm, Thursday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7:00pm. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Eureka Lodge #69 A.F. & A.M., Milan or to St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Carl was born on February 5, 1925 in Haverslev, Denmark, the son of Chris and Astrid Christensen. He married Leota Swanson March 2, 1956 in Rock Island. Mr. Christensen was a carpenter and cabinet maker at his business, Carl’s Cabinet Shop, Milan. He was also employed by Brandt Construction and Bohl’s Machine Shop. Carl was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island, Eureka Lodge #69 A.F. & A.M., Viking Club, Danish Brotherhood, Civil War Roundtable, the Moose Lodge and Carpenter Union Local 166, both of Rock Island. He enjoyed making needlepoint pictures. Mr. Christensen was a Veteran of the Danish Army having served in light artillery units. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Leota; daughters and sons in law, Lisa and Michael McDonald, Ballwin, MO., Linette and James Mohrmann, Chesterfield, MO.; grandson, Adam Mohrmann and half brother, Frank Christensen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Christian, Clarence, Paul; sisters, Agnes Nielsen and Helen Christensen.
